LIMITING FACTORS, POTENTIALS, AND LIFECYCLE OF SMALL BUSINESSES: A PROPOSAL OF AN EMPIRICAL THEORETICAL MODEL
Abstract
The universe of small businesses holds significant importance, representing the majority of formally constituted enterprises, as well as contributing substantially to wealth generation and employment creation. Numerous initiatives have been undertaken to foster the development and strengthen these businesses across various sectors and economic domains. However, many businesses still face closure due to various factors, resulting in financial losses and societal costs. This study aims to systematize information regarding the survival-limiting factors of these organizations. A comparative method was employed between identified literature and selected research, highlighting converging points to formulate a synthesis framework, a synopsis table, and propose an empirical theoretical model. It can be concluded that this work contributes to science by facilitating the systematization of existing information and the potential convergence among evaluated themes and groups.
