SOCIAL OBSERVATORIES AND PUBLIC GOVERNANCE: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF RESEARCH TRENDS FROM 2006 TO 2024
Abstract
Public governance can be conceptualized as a set of leadership, strategy and monitoring mechanisms for the decision-making process. On the other hand, observatories can be understood as centers for observation and analysis of social reality, which aim to generate knowledge. Integrating the thematic themes of social observatories and public governance, this study aimed to use bibliometric techniques to identify research trends and patterns associated with social observatories and public governance within the scope of global scientific production. It is theoretically based on studies on social observatories, public management and governance, and stakeholder theory. It is exploratory research; uses bibliometric analysis techniques as a method, through the execution of the bibliometrix package and the biblioshiny application through the R® software. The results demonstrated the existence of two large groups in research on the themes, the first involving humanitarian issues (such as health, public policies and economics); and the second, research linked to management, decision-making, governance and innovation in the field of Applied Social Sciences.
